High School Sweethearts Wed at NJ’s Historic Smithville Inn

Sometimes you just know from the first phone call, when you’ve somehow managed to attract a bride whose vision for her day, is everything you love in a summer wedding.  I knew I liked Lauren from the start.  She and Charles were high school sweethearts, and something about her immediately reminded me of my own teenage son’s girlfriend.   A young love that survived not only the usual map of teenage dramas, but more than anyone’s fair share of loss and heartache along the way.  Lauren’s choice to honor her mother throughout the day, her fierce dedication to her brother, and Charles’ family  truly embracing and supporting her with all their hearts, was an honor to witness.  From her small bridal party with only her best of friends, to her bouquet of dried flowers and an easy, effortless dress perfect for a summery, outdoor wedding at New Jersey’s Historic Smithville Inn, every detail spoke to a simple, fuss-free and totally perfect day.  She even indulged me with one of my favorite creative bridal portraits, an in-camera double exposure using her bouquet of dried flowers.  Thank you Lauren and Charles, I couldn’t be more humbled to have been part of the celebration of your truly great love story.

  1. This is a gorgeous Smithfield Inn wedding! I love all the rich colors and the interesting bridal bouquet and the naked cake is to die for! Best of all I love the portraits of the happy bride and groom! Wonderful job, Lori!

  2. How sweet that she was able to honor her loved ones during her wedding. The Historic Smithfield Inn looks like a perfect spot for a wedding venue, and you captured it so well! I love the idea of the dried flowers for her bridal bouquet. Love when there are unique details to photograph! Beautiful as always, Lori!
