Winter Wedding at Philadelphia’s Le Meridien Hotel

Bride and groom in Center City Philadelphia
Bride and groom at City Hall for a center city wedding

There’s nothing quite like a winter wedding in Philadelphia’s center city.  Le Meridien Hotel is a gorgeous venue and I was looking forward to spending the entire day there for Melanie and Santos’ beautiful December wedding.  I first met the couple for their engagement shoot over the summer. It was one of those shoots that was delightfully easy and relaxed.  The two are so natural and easy with each other, that photographing them together is like hanging out with good friends.  I love that they brought candy canes and mistletoe as a nod to their upcoming holiday wedding.  Please check out their sweet engagement shoot at the following link:

Melanie and Santos Engagement Photos

Their winter wedding at Le Meridien was just as wonderful as their engagement shoot.  Melanie was such a beautiful bride, so sweet and welcoming and her friends and family are people I’m not likely to forget.  The entire day was spent at the Le Meridien, and I can’t suggest it highly enough for weddings. The bridal suites are rich and elegant.  The library where the ceremonies are is filled with warm wood and beautiful lighting.  The couple filled both the ceremony spot and the reception with tons of photos from their engagement shoot, which always fills me with joy.

I was a little concerned about the limited time we would have for photos after the ceremony, which can always be tricky when couples don’t do a first look, especially in winter when we lose light early.  Melanie wanted the big Broad Street shot and hoped we’d have time to get some shots with the Christmas tree at City Hall.  Photographers always use the south side of City Hall for the big broad street shot, but I knew we wouldn’t have time to get there and keep the reception on time.  I decided making the North side work would be a better use of our time, and I’m SO glad we made that decision.  These Broad Street shots are among my favorites that I’ve taken there, because they are just a little bit different.  The back light with my Magmod gear was so lovely as the sun was going down, I decided to try another at the Christmas tree.  It was insanely crowded and kind of nuts to attempt off camera flash in the crowd, but it worked! I love the way it incorporates street photography with editorial wedding work. It’s one of my favorite images of all time.

Please enjoy these images, and feel free to share for some beautiful Philadelphia wedding inspiration!
