Mature couple marries in a Philly Elopement

One of the greatest joys of my life is photographing unique weddings, and Rona and Tom’s winter elopement at Philly’s Waterworks Gazebo was a no exception. I’ve photographed engagement sessions and weddings at the Philadelphia  Museum of Art  and Waterworks  for years. Those weddings have always been big, classic weddings at Cescaphe, in the Pavilion or ballroom. But a couple over 60 getting married by their best friend in the gazebo surrounded by only their families? Amazing. I couldn’t wait.

Rona arrived first with her daughter and bestie/officiant. Tom was running late, so I stole  Rona away for portraits of her, her daughter and officiant. I loved Rona’s ceremony look, which included a shimmery champagne colored gown  and gorgeous jewelry. It’s always a gift to have extra portrait time, and the light bouncing off the Schuylkill in that area is always magic. I could spend hours shooting portraits there and find interesting new nooks and crannies every time.

Tom arrived in a party bus with the couple’s adult kids, significant others and armloads of poinsettias to set a holiday mood.  Rona and Tom’s family surrounded them in the gazebo in an intimate ceremony that was personal and warm despite the frigid temperatures and public park. After a champagne toast, we spent some more time in the area for  portraits and family photos  before boarding the party bus to visit the Rocky statue.

A few more photos around the museum, and Rona changed into a gorgeous black gown for a dinner cruise with the family. Also,  can we just talk about their matching rings and Bulovas? Stunning. It was such a special, unique few hours. I adored my time with them. Congratulations Rona and Tom!
