Terrain Gardens at Devon Yard, was the perfect venue for Pheobe and Jacob’s sweet summer wedding. Located on the Main Line, just 45 minutes outside of Philadelphia, Terrain Gardens is a garden lover’s dream. The rustic space with a mix of indoor and outdoor areas, features reclaimed barn wood floors, strings of festival lights and a huge skylight. Just next to the venue is the world class Terrain Garden Center, whose lush flowers and artisan pottery provide unique areas for portraits throughout the event.
Getting Ready
Pheobe and Jacob got ready for their day at The Desmond in Malvern. Pheobe’s ceremony gown was pale gray and adorned with tiny lace flowers, which she would change during cocktail hour. Terrain Design provided her flowers, an exquisite summery mix of pale yellows, oranges and periwinkles.
Bridal Portraits
Pheobe and Jacob chose not to see each other prior to the ceremony. With the help of Terrain’s staff, we were able to get Pheobe out for some really beautiful portraits while keeping Jacob hidden away as not to see her. I couldn’t resist a few of her indoors with her cake, which kept us nice and cool before we headed out for some garden center portraits amongst the lush seasonal plants and flowers.
The Ceremony
Their ceremony took place outside, adjacent to the reception area. Glasses of pretty lavender lemonade garnished with edible florals greeted guests as they arrived. They were then invited to sit in a circle, which was a lovely and intimate way to include friends and family in the ceremony. Terrain design made beautiful large floral arrangements which would later be repurposed as decor around the couple’s sweetheart table.
Couple Portraits
During cocktail hour, Pheobe changed to a fun blue gown for portraits around the garden center with Jacob. The pair had such an easy, effortless vibe that photographing them was an absolutely pleasure. We spent a little time wandering around the nursery aisles as they snuggled for photos before they were ready to get back to their party.
Reception Details
The centerpieces were herbs in Terrain’s signature clay pots, intended for guests to take home after the event. There were also tiny jars of honey, perfect for the venue and the season. I love that they included traditions from Pheobe’s Liberian background including colorful fabrics for the couple’s entrance.
Reception
Marquis Entertainment provided the music for the reception and kept the crowd dancing all night! we did manage to sneak the couple out for a few quick night shots before their sparkler send off. What a true joy it was to be a part of such a special event. All our love and appreciation always!
