Although we built our business on non-traditional, off beat weddings, we’ve recently developed a love for those classic, timeless weddings with couples who love romantic elegance in their weddings while staying true to our aesthetic of fresh, modern photography.  Our classic weddings still incorporate lots of photojournalistic candids, but with more classic poses and portraiture.

Rodin Museum bride and groom

Summer wedding party at the Rodin Museum

Manor House at Prophecy Creek is the perfect venue for a classic summer wedding. Megan and Patrick’s day began with a few of their favorite locations in Philadelphia, before joining their guests for a lovely outdoor ceremony in Ambler, Pa.  This classic wedding had the perfect combination of  meaningful Philly locations, a serene venue with gardens and water features, and a great reception filled with laughter and fun.

Bride and Groom Prep

Megan and Patrick live in Philadelphia and wanted to get ready in their homes.  They had a large bridal party and both the guys and the girls had a house full of good friends and family. Glamour Girls did a beautiful job with the girl’s hair and makeup. We took a few quick photos with the pups before getting on the trolley to head to their first look.

First Look

The couple lives within walking distance of the Rodin Museum, and chose to have their first look there.   First looks are great for couples who want to get the majority of their photos finished with before their cocktail hour so they can enjoy more of their reception.  I love having two photographers for this portion of the day. Paul’s big wide shots give great context to the chaos behind the scenes, while I can get in close to capture the emotion.

Rodin Museum

Philadelphia’s Rodin Museum is one of my new favorite locations. It’s so beautiful and there are lots of areas to photograph around the grounds. Make sure you get a permit to shoot there, it’s not a lot and it’s worth every penny.  After we photographed the couple with their dog, Snoop. and the rest of the bridal party, we went for a photo walk with the couple. They read their vows to each other by the water of a reflection pool as people passed by. It was a perfect Philadelphia moment.

Broad Street

We only had a few minutes for a quick few photos on Philadelphia’s Broad Street.  It’s another fave of ours that we never tire of.  The couples classic attire was perfect with the city lights of Broad Street.

Manor House at Prophecy Creek

The Manor House at Prophecy Creek in Ambler, Pa is a stunning venue for outdoor summer weddings.  Make sure you schedule plenty of time at the venue for photos. There are so many spots with everything from gardens, to water features and even rustic old barns.  The staff is always a pleasure to work with.  Their events are always run flawlessly.

Outdoor Summer Ceremony

Ron Mulray of Philadelphia Flower Company did an unbelievable job constructing a giant circle as a background for the ceremony.  Although the rain threatened to come down, somehow it stopped just before Megan walked down the aisle.  I loved all the pops of pink flower petals the guests threw as they made their exit as husband and wife.

Reception

The Manor House at Prophecy Creek was filled with succulents and white florals.  Such a classic look filled with summer wedding inspiration for a beautiful summer wedding.

Night Portraits

We always love taking a few minutes for night portraits and Megan and Patrick were all about it! There was just enough moisture in the air to back light those pretty raindrops for some super romantic night portraits. It’s such a beautiful way to end the day.

Bride and groom at Cescaphe's Down Town Club

Philadelphia wedding at The Down Town Club

There’s nothing quite like a Philadelphia fall wedding, and the Cescaphe Event Group’s Down Town Club is a breathtaking venue.  The Cescaphe Event venues are among my favorites for elegant Philadelphia weddings.  I’ve been fortunate to photograph the ornate former movie palace that is the Cescaphe Ballroom, the urban inspired industrial chic of the Tendenza, and the modern ballroom and courtyard of  Vie , but I still hadn’t photographed the Down Town Club in Independence Mall.  I couldn’t have been more excited.  Pro-tip! I actually have a Cescaphe Event Group Pinterest board completely devoted to their venues. It’s filled with tips and inspiration for couples planning weddings at their venues.

Hotel Monaco Bridal Prep

Bryn got ready at the Hotel Monaco , one of my favorite bridal suites in the city. The whimsical details and natural light make it perfect for pretty detail shots. Pro Tip! Try not to fall in love with the lobby area, you’re not allowed to shoot there. There are, however, tons of great spots for first looks directly across the street.

Head House Square First Look

Bryn had wanted photos at Head House Square for their engagement shoot, but there was a farmer’s market the day we shot. Luckily it was perfectly empty on their wedding day and made a great spot for their first look.

Broad Street Bride and Groom

Broad Street in front of City Hall is always a favorite for Philadelphia weddings. I love to back light the bride and groom and tend to shoot from around Walnut Street.

Independence Mall

Independence Mall is a beautiful spot for bride and groom portraits as well as family photos and night portraits. Just make sure you get a permit to shoot there. It’s a huge load of your mind to know you’re allowed to be there and won’t be thrown out with your entire family in tow!

Down Town Club Wedding

The Down Town Club is inspired by Georgian Revival architecture with tall windows, marbled floors and sweeping views of Old City and the Delaware River beyond.  The Cescaphe Event Group has a fabulous 90 minute cocktail hour, which allows for plenty of time for some photos around the venue.  Music was a big theme throughout the night, with musicians for the ceremony, a surprise visit from some Mummer’s at cocktail hour, and the amazing band “Jellyroll” for the reception. The Bryn found small ways to honor Alex’s service throughout the day without having a “military” wedding.

Down Town Club Ceremony

Candlelight and beautiful views of the city at night. What could be more romantic than that?

I always love to end the evening with a reception sneak out for some romantic night portraits.  Bryn and Alex were happy to take a break, and soak in a little (almost) alone time for some beautiful night shots. It only takes a few minutes, and it’s a lovely way to end your wedding photography.
