Spooky Wedding Reception at the Deacon

Spooky wedding at the Deacon
Bride and groom at the Deacon in Philadelphia

Danielle and Brian’s spooky wedding reception at the Deacon in Philadelphia was absolutely fabulous. The Deacon is located in Philadelphia’s Graduate Hospital area and formerly housed the First African Baptist church. Amazing food and drinks, killer music and and a relaxed vibe, Danielle and Brian’s reception was a “friends only” event.  I started with the couple as they were just finishing up decorating. Danielle’s black dress was an absolute dream. Their spooky decor was the cutest! They had little bats for people to sign, a coffin card holder, temporary tattoos of their cats, and a photo backdrop with a skeleton.

Balboa Catering treated guests to incredible buffets and drinks. Don’t even get me started on the Virgin Limeade Mojita “mocktail”, thrice cooked french fries, or the biggest charcuterie platter I’ve ever seen. I’m still craving those incredibly refreshing drinks with my entire soul.

After dinner, Danielle did a surprise entrance in her Undertaker costume. She then handed off her urn, tossed a black bouquet and danced around with her skeleton friend. And if that isn’t the perfect way to celebrate your wedding and kick off spooky season, I don’t know what is.
