I think the most beautiful aspect of our business right now is the explosion of wonderful same sex weddings, especially when the couple puts so much of their heart and soul into every aspect of their day. Our two brides, Zahava and Alisa were college sweethearts at Lafayette College, who not only met on campus, but were the first gay couple photographed for the school paper. We met the ladies for an engagement shoot in Easton, Pa in the shadow of their alma mater and their perfect wedding venue, Lafayette College. After we photographed the two canoodling in bookstores, on bridges and in the countries oldest farmer’s market, the former Lafayette Tour Guides took us for a tour of the school and all of the special nooks and crannies where their history was made.
For this rustic, fall wedding filled with details and decor carefully created by the brides, we teamed up with fellow photog Ashlee Mintz, who’s bridal portrait work in film and styling of details made her the perfect addition to our BWR team. Our two brides got ready in separate rooms at The Lafayette Inn, and the opportunity to photograph not one, but two wedding dresses is a wedding photographers dream. Our brides met for a sweet first look near the tree where they met, joining their bridal party for photo stops on staircases and in classrooms, and Paul and Ashlee played with the symmetry of two brides, both in wedding dresses, under trees, by stained glass windows, and various meaningful locations to the girls. Some of my favorite photos of the day are of the two posed on a marble staircase under a Woman’s Suffrage painting from 1913. A charming Ketubah from Once Upon a Paper was signed in the library lined with rich, warm wood, surrounded by the bridal party, which made for some ridiculously smart bridal party photos.
An outdoor ceremony under a chuppah designed by Zahara’s dad (who also made the centerpiece eggplant boxes) was decorated with lace doilies in embroidery hoops that were garage sale finds. Guests were greeted by campus tour guides and rustic direction signs also made by Zahava’s dad, before enjoying local hot apple cider, cookies and apple chips to music provided by an all male Acapella group from the college, the Lafayette College Chorduroys. Color themes of purples and crisp greens were everywhere, from the flowers which included black calla lilies and succulents, deep purple for the bridal party and Kippas, and the centerpieces of green apples and eggplant boxes. Guests found their seats by a seating chart of periodic element of guests and each table was assigned a campus building with a little bit of history on one. Zahava and Alisa not only designed their rings, but also all of the paper, invitations, menus and such. Mouth watering cupcakes by Sweet Girlz Bakery and baked desserts and goodies unlike anything we’ve ever seen.
So thrilled to be part of Zahava and Alisa’s love story. All our love, ladies!

Lafayette College made a perfect wedding venue, and of course black white and raw would produce stunning wedding photography! Fall colors came through so nicely, and the portraits are so fun! Those window shots were jaw dropping and the photo session in the library was so creative! Great work!
Thank you so much for allowing me to join your team for the day and photograph these two stunning ladies! Looking forward to working together in the future and maybe even at Lafayette college again!!
