Industrial Chic Wedding at Goggleworks Center for the Arts

This has officially been our season of Industrial Weddings in super cool venues, so when we heard that Maria and James were having their Industrial Chic Wedding at Goggleworks Center for the Arts in Reading, Pa, we couldn’t wait to photograph it!  We already knew from their Philadelphia Old City/Penn’s Landing engagement shoot, which remains one of our favorites, that they have a natural ease about them.  There is a palpable joy about them when they’re together, deeply romantic and full of fun.

Goggleworks Center for the Arts is a 5 story community arts facility which houses art galleries, teaching studios, a theater for daily art films, a cafe, etc, in what was formerly The Willson Goggle Factory. Founded in 1871 it was the first factory to manufacture optical glass for lenses and reading glasses.  Maria and James’ joyous day was spent entirely at the venue.  I loved the exposed brick for Maria’s portraits pre-ceremony. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house for their beautiful vows, and a photo walk around the grounds of the facility was a dream to shoot, with walls and alleys and hard edges a perfect contrast to their warm, romantic day.  We loved using elements of James’ Polish traditions (bread, salt and vodka) in their ring shots, and Maria’s Brazilian heritage brought Carnivale to life at the end of the evening.  Such a fun, joyous, and lovely event, we were absolutely thrilled and honored to be a part of it.

  1. Black White and Raw Photography can take on any form when it comes to photography, but I am LOVING the industrial venues of your Philly weddings!! Goggleworks in Reading, PA made for a stunning wedding venue and you covered it just as I expected: explosively. You combined the grit of the industrial feel with the coolness of their chic vibe with fluid perfection. Amazing work delivered again and again!!
